US President Donald Trump has hit Australian Beef hard with a blanket 10% tariff on all imports to the US.
“They ban American beef, yet we imported $3 billion of Australian beef from them just last year alone,” Trump said as part of his ‘Liberation Day Speech’ discussing his global tariff regime.
“…You know what? I don’t blame them. But we’re doing the same thing right now, starting about midnight tonight.”
Trump did not clarify if it was the Trump administration’s intentions to ban Australian beef imports or impose the standard tariff.
Australia has made several appeals to be exempted from the tariff regime, all of which have been rejected by the Trump administration.
