“There are three million people who are ‘this close’ to homelessness,” Mr Murray said.

“They are our fellow Australians.”

  1. I'm sorry, Paul, but this current housing crisis is not exclusively owned by Labor. The coalition has also been a significant contributor to this current situation. When nearly all politicians in both federal and state governments and local government councillors in major city councils have one or more investment properties, then how could any of them be relied upon to have policies that control or curb the runaway growth in property prices.

  2. I was home in Australia in October; the cities are overrun by asian immigrants. All the hotel staff are asian all the small businesses appear to be run by arabs and Aussies are now living on the streets. It’s shocking what the so called Labour government has done to our beautiful country.

  3. This is all part of the big plan… They are forcing inflation, forcing interest rate rises, forcing housing crisis, forcing everyone to spend every dollar they have in the bank, and run up massive debts to survive, so that when they come along with their 15 minute cities and digital basic income, everyone will have their hands up saying "yes, yes!" . Boom. Freedom gone. Full control handed over to big brother.

  4. I actually found a video on YouTube, that proves that the government is intending, actually, DEPENDING, on taking all our assets and preparing to put us in 15 minute cities like caged animals. If i can find the link, I'll post it.

  5. This what you get when you keep voting in the same parties and people over and over again and expect a different result. If you think this is bad that this is happening and you vote in Australia. Pledge you put labor and the coalition last on the ballot come the election. Not to vote someone in but to shake them into not taking us Australians for granted.

  6. All those millions to PNG, Ukraine,Gaza and God knows where else they could NOT run a free raffle in a chook house with out stuffing it up,iF people vote for them they need certifying as Idiots and put into care, though Dutton leaves me cold NO Mongrel there just a wishy washy , excuse of a leader MY GOD we in Australia are in more trouble than Flash Gordon ever was and the Fence Turtle Black Out Bowen another excuse of a human ,and Wong the bountiful giving away millions with out ever asking ""Australians will I do this"" response would have been NO BLOODY WAY,Mr Dutton you want votes show some spine some mongrel hit the bench with your fist not what you show now ,personally think Libs a half pace behind Albo and Labor never thought i would ever say this as Lib voter for all my life NO More,Polies them selves MUST be made pay for their speal to get our votes then we will see who is in it for the Good of AU or to line their pockets and the jobs when we flick them.

  7. Hey hey hey. Don’t bring your liberal propaganda to this discussion, Sky News!!!

Both parties are cooked and need to go. Don’t use sympathetic news headlines to brainwash people into listening to lies like this!

We think we got problems now…misinformation and disinformation will be the final straw that breaks our civilisation if we don’t start holding these media companies to higher standards and do a better job of developing peoples critical thinking skills. Stop being sheeple ppl!!! 🐑

  8. A lot of the legislation that John Howard passed regarding housing, free education and jobs is now effecting our young people. He was an absolute dipshit. A Liberal dipshit unsurprisingly.

But a lot of people on here are spouting liberal propaganda, as usual on this channel, so let me remind everyone that just four short years ago the Liberal government who was in power during Covid gave away billions of dollars to our wealthiest companies without requiring them to pay any of it back, if they managed to make a profit. Which they did and they kept every cent, while Aussies got fired from their jobs.

At the same time, the Libs went after poor ppl on welfare with robodebt and a faulty algorithm, that they were aware of, causing multiple Aussies to commit suicide.

That same government printed money during the pandemic like morons and WE ARE IN THIS COST OF LIVING CRISIS TODAY BECAUSE OF THEM!!!

Both major parties need to go!!! They’ve cooked this country and if either of them get in we can be sure they’ll continue destroying it!
Vote for whoever you decide fits your needs but make sure you put BOTH the Liberal and Labour Parties LAST on your numbered voting ballots! It’s the only way!

  9. *"This Close"*

Three million hearts, this close to the street,

Empty fridges, worn-out shoes on tired feet,

    Dreams dissolved in unpaid rent,

    Wages gone, every dollar spent.

From sunburnt plains to crowded towns,

    A silent struggle, hidden frowns,

    Families breaking under crushing cost,

    Voices fading, futures lost.

    Promises made, but action delayed,

    Bureaucrats distant, decisions betrayed,

While the great halls echo with hollow cheer,

The cries of the people fall deaf on the ear.

Paul Murray’s voice cuts sharp and clear,

A call to leaders who refuse to hear:

"They are our fellow Australians," he says with fire,

"This close" to collapse, to lose, to tire.

Not numbers, but names, lives in despair,

    Children, elders—faces everywhere.

How did we drift to the edge of this line,

In a country of riches, sun, and vine?

The Great Depression’s shadow grows near,

History whispers, but do they hear?

A nation’s soul is not in its gold,

But in hearts unbroken, hands to hold.

    Rise, Australia, beyond the spin,

Compassion is where true strength begins.

For three million lives hang in the sway—

    Not tomorrow—*but right now,* today.

  10. 3 years ago I moved out and lived in a car, not paying rent has saved me $20K per year, now invested on the ASX and doing a ripper good job. I think I might stay on with this, if more people did it, rents would drop and be affordable.

  11. Nice how the lispy pig is making pre election promises while not living up to his promises from before the last election. Hey pigface do what you have promised and promise now because YOU are already in control so if you want us not to hate your miserable guts stand up and do the right thing.

  12. The fact that private and religious schools receive around the same federal funding as Public schools needs to be stopped. As someone who grew up in poverty, living in cheap shabby units or caravan parks, this has been the trajectory of this country since John Curtin introduced the "Dole", it created generations of people dependant on the government to survive, decreasing the motivation to get out and work. Yes it was post WWII and they were different times but welfare dependency is a government created problem which leads one to believe that poverty is intentional and if people are worried about surviving then they're not paying attention to everything else.
