Why would you take funding away from Sunshine Station upgrade which is the early works for Airport Rail? Whats the point of having a rail to the airport if there is a massive bottleneck at sunshine?

Pulling $2B from Sunshine and then investing $1.5B into Airport Rail is idiotic. The $2B Sunshine project is step 1 of Airport Rail, so they are effectively removing $500M of funding to Airport Rail and advertising it as an increase?

Why can't the State Government deliver infrastructure projects ahead of time and under budget. Why do we accept over budget and over time as "normal"?

This rail loop show how Governments think.

It will for part of the Airport rail link. So lets start it at the other end of the city in a marginal seat because the airport section is in a safe seat. But if they finished the airport link first and have a $1 charge on the fare that could then help to fund the rest of the loop.

Sunshine station needs to be completed as the link is being constructed as it is needed for the airport, Country trains (As it has platforms for that now), the electrification to Melton and the extra 2 parallel tracks to Melton to separate Country trains from electric trains. With out these works the network in this area will be like the Tulla before Citylink was built. Melton was approved and funded for electrification back in 1969. Just maybe voters in safe seats need to change their voting habits just once or twice to put the wind up the major parties so they do things in those seats and not just marginal ones. The people do have the power.

Melbourne infrastructure is a sorry excuse for a developed country. Send some people to China and learn how they build massive projects within a few weeks or months. Bring the experts from China and let them do the job. Our contractors in Australia are ripoff artists wasting taxpayer money and ripping off the government.

Waste of money anyway. Not to mention, it doesn't even go into the CBD, which is actually where majority of those who use the rail system actually work.

We do not need to abandon either the airport rail or SRL, however the airport rail is far more urgent and can be done way quicker than the SRL, so we should focus on constructing the airport rail first before we start working on the SRL.
