The shore was not 4km it was less than 100m. His reason for not paddling to shore was idiotic – he didn't want to be mistaken for a seal lol. He panicked and had a brain fart if you get chased by a big shark get out of the water it's not rocket science.
No drama here. Young guy was relaxed and handled it well. Talked his way through it and never looked like an issue.
