Donald Trump’s tariff war is headed to Australia after he announced a blanket 25% tariff on steel and aluminium, which could tank demand for US buyers due to rising costs.

But how badly would this affect Australia?

  1. Trump's policies had been viewed by many experts as more positive for the financials sector, spurring this massive rally. It's enticing to consider purchasing some stocks, I'm contemplating investing more than $300k. Thoughts?

  2. If Albo goes begging to Trump he's throwing his own re-election chances away. If all countries are tariffed equally only America is paying a higher price and then good luck to them. If Trump can't be relied on we might as well stop paying for AUKUS too.

  3. Smart move, he already put tariffs on steel and aluminium last time he was presidents. The results were very clear, higher prices and jobs lost in the US. They can't produce what's needed to keep the industry going. Somehow he thinks the results will be different this time. Or does he even think.

  4. As a Canadian, i'm somewhat envious of Australia for not having to live next door to the asylum like we do…but we certainly stand with your country against a man and a party that seems hellbent on causing trouble all around the world.

  5. Australia is on the wrong side of history, as China and BRICS are being sought by other countries as a way of the future. America is in severe decline, and their influence around the world has gone with it. Our dimwitted Australian politicians seemed to believe that the U.S will make a resurgence, but even blind Freddie can see that won't happen. Dump ANZUS and AUKUS, as it's a one way alliance, that will ultimately drag us into a conflict, because of an aggressive, declining empire that is the U.S.A. This is not a reflection on the American people, but on the Foreign policy and America First mentality of their Governments, past and present. WAKE UP AUSTRALIA, AND SMELL THE REALITY!

  6. Albo should tell Trump that us Australians can save the USA billions of $ by sending all USA personel back to the States from Pine Gap and all the USA military back to USA from Darwin and Northern Australia. That might make him think twice about Tariffs on Aussie steel and aluminium.

  7. Screw the US, they can F off, firstly we should cancel the submarine deal, that's $300 billion straight up, then tariff everything they sell to Australia, it's not like we can't buy the same stuff elsewhere.

  8. The top 1% pay a nearly zero tax rate on tariffs due to being based on what you consume. In Florida, we use consumption taxes to run the state. The poor pay 13% after federal tax to run the state, the rich pay 2.7%. They want that nation wide. Page 730 of Project 2025 – move to a national sales tax as well. These moves are to push the tax burden squarely on the backs of we the people. Any other discussion about it is just a distraction.

  9. Australia did this to themselves. Rather than manufacturing stuff and adding value they sold the raw materials for pennies and now look…. The time for manufacturing needed to be done back in the 70s and 80s and are continuing to suffer for doing nothing.

  10. All other countries need to band together and cut off all trade with the USA. Teach Trump that he needs other countries just as much as other countries need the USA. He needs to be taught a tough lesson. And as he said this will hurt before it gets better.
