Oh how short our Memories are. Yes, this is a big flood. I lived in TOWNSVILLE, we had floods like this before. The difference is the IDIOTS IN GOVERNMENT have allowed the IDIOT DEVELOPERS to build in known flood plains. Slab houses on flood plains, real smart. And as the population grows so does the impact. 1995 INNISFAIL was under water, INGHAM under water, STH JOHNSON RIVER bridge was covered in banana plants after the water subsided. GARBUT cut off, BHOLE River cut off the Bruce Highway. It’s the consecutive FAILURE of INCOMPETENT GOVERNMENT AND BUREAUCRATS that have FAILED to address the conditions of the BRUCE HIGHWAY. Why do you think the old houses built in STH TOWNSVILLE are high set, like many of the old house in Nth AUSTRALIA, because of floods. I borrowed my parent 4×4 Ute to drive from KESLO into town because the ROSS RIVER was across the rd. Even kids were playing in the rising flood waters. 1983, NAMBOUR was under water, YANDINA was under water, the OLD BRUCE HIGHWAY was cut off as the water covered the bridge into YANDINA, the caravan park below had to be evacuated for the obvious reasons. I’m not down playing the severity of this event, I don’t like seeing hard working AUSSIES losing their homes, however many people have moved into these areas over time and don’t realise how Vulnerable they are to flood events like this.
