Strategic Analysis Australia Director Michael Shoebridge says the Australian military has been almost “completely dependent” on US satellites and space systems.

It follows revelations Labor plans to axe a $7 billion military-grade space satellite communications system.

Mr Shoebridge told Sky News host Peta Credlin that it has been a “yawning hole” in Australia’s capability.

  1. Australia seems to be a country at this point where we are being exploited by everyone and there is always someone willing to sell off the parts for personal gain. I'm not sure we actually have a country anymore.

  2. LOL what happen's if a Real West Alian walk's in. Burn's le top lefthand corner ov le flag. Then pain't all yaw Sub's white. 3. Australia doesnt even know what the americans do in pine gap.
Mr Shoebridge wrote the pagerexplotions were a cheap economic defence tactics carried out in civilian aereas.
It was a terrorist attack some of the pagers exploded into childrens faces also.

  4. 'Completely dependent' is because un-elected globalists control our broken and corrupt political and bureaucratically rigged system. Bring back the "Government of the Commonwealth of Australia", put the AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT on notice. As a corporation, it masquerades as government, having no more lawful authority than a McDonald's employee; apologies to Ronald.

  5. We have no real industry just mining and real estate so are totally dependent on our allies. Wars will be won by mass production even more so now in the age of drones and ai. Hope we we never have to learn that lesson the hard way.

  6. If people were serious Australia should scrap the military and save the $50Bn a year. The ADF cant protect the country anyway and the money is all corporate welfare for defence bureaucrats and US military contractors. Dont believe me; Australia couldnt scrounge ONE ship to go to the Red Sea a few months back. Our army wouldnt last a week in conditions like in Ukraine, nor would the air force. A token Russian force defended Iran recently from the very best Israel and the US had. Spend the money on better things.

  7. Almost dependent on US spies since the Fall of our Empire in 1945! Please Australia's natural assets and indebted nation status has been liquidated on Wall Street by the same Deep State that has corrupted DC. We should be richest and smartest Nation status instead we are becoming a 3rd world Banana Republic.

  8. You know what NZ flies rockets into space and we aren't even allowed. Anyone ever heard of Rocket lab? Peter Beck CEO of Rocket lab are giving Space X a real run for their money from NZ Pop. only 4-5 million maybe 6 at most. But in the meantime we here in Straya are being spoon fed baby food by the all increasing nannies because they want us to be kept safe…..Safe!!!…safe my foot has our govt ever seen how unsafe it is around the world at the moment? Not to mention how unsafe it is getting here in Straya. No thanks to the govt allowing the Allen Snack bars in our country unffeted unchecked. In all seriousness Straya needs a small but defensible space program too give us the ability to launch our own spy satellites into space to check on who is spying on us.

  9. Ummm hate to tell you but thats not the worst of it…we have about 750 men able to be deployed in under 24 hrs…we have about 200 available in 3 hours. THATS IT …
But hey…its okay …we have already been taken over…

  10. Investing $7B might only scratch the surface of a space program (not even nearing space, haha), but allocating that amount to enhance security could be a much wiser decision, imo.

  11. To quote Trump – Peta is a radical war hawk but she wouldn't be if guns…..you know the rest…. war monger like Peta are good at sitting behind a desk whinging and whining….

  12. 130 would be plenty to get the ball rolling but you need to do joint ventures then which is not an ideal in the case of military. I want to state publicly Lockheed Martin is a fine company. Do not let the blame rest with them as is generally the case with this kind of thing. I am very honest when I Lockheed is an exemplary company. They go above and beyond. Extremely capable people at Lockheed. I don't aim to compete with Lockheed Martin and I was under know obligation. As people can tell now. I do know my shet.
