Sky News host Sharri Markson says economists have “warned loudly” that Labor needed to keep its pre-election spending in check because the inflation battle was not yet over.
Treasurer Jim Chalmers has painted a hopeful picture of Australia’s economic recovery, claiming the nation’s economy has “turned a corner” despite ongoing challenges.
“The Albanese Government of course doesn’t accept any responsibility for rising inflation and slowing growth,” Ms Markson said.
“It’s really Donald Trump who is becoming the villain for the Albanese government. He will be singlehandedly blamed for poor economic conditions here in Australia.”
