With just under two weeks to go until the next federal election, both Labor and the Coalition are hitting the campaign trail hard.

The two major parties have already promised billions of dollars in commitments to win over voters, and they’re not done yet.

  1. As a Canadian, it's interesting to see how you Aussies are arguing about the same issues that we are. Skyrocketing house prices, mass immigration, cuts to public services, and politicians acting like Trump. Meanwhile nothing they actually do seems to make anything better. I feel for you. Best of luck!

  2. No Albanese stupid no backbone clown, we get a 3 years old child who wouldn’t do a consequence job like Stupid Albanese, just sell energy, can cause to stoop and fawn China and Russia, almost all of Asian countries need energy importing from other countries

  3. I only trust Dutton with backbone, No Albanese stupid no backbone clown, we get a 3 years old child who wouldn’t do a consequence job like Stupid Albanese, just sell energy, can cause to stoop and fawn China and Russia, almost all of Asian countries need energy importing from other countries

  4. Nobody believes anything anymore
Community need to come back to themselfs and help each other
It always has worked like that in
    the Past
The most important qustion is always overlooked
Do they have kind hearts? Or is it always and always about money?
Buthan is the best example for me how leadership should be
Protecting people and care for them
What is Care for people for them really?

  5. Housing? Why not cover the deserts in solar panels, build living quarters underneath, use the panels to collect rainwater, use the shade underneath to create farming areas and pay the people living there to farm and keep the infrastructure clean and serviceable?

  6. The best thing that young people can do is ignore the housing incentives from both parties. Neither is attainable.

With a 5% deposit from labour, you wouldn’t even get approved for an average 1 br unit because the monthly repayments will not be serviceable unless you are earning something like 140k a year. A young person starting out is not going to have that. Heck it is even a high bar for average professionals with years of experience.

The “take money from Super” option from the coalition is also a non solution as young people also don’t have that amount of money in their super. It’s another kick the can down the road solution as taking it from Super will mean they have less for retirement whilst driving up demand in the short term.

The only way forward to have housing afforability is, cut red tapes around housing approvals which boosts supply by cutting government spending on these government roles because they are wasteful. Halting immigration to reduce demand and give Australians some breathing room until new housing supply has caught up. Neither of these two options are what are popular with young people because they’ve been falsely lead to believe that government programs are helpful and efficient.

In reality, we have all the tools and knowledge to solve this problem if we just look into history. Look at how other countries have solved housing crisis in the past. For example Singapore. One of the things is to stop foreign investment into buying any existing properties. Investment into properties should be for new condos/apartments only and any new condos/apartments needs to have 51% of it owned by domestic owners – either as personal residence or as investment property.

Gradual increase tax on second, third, forth etc .. investment properties to stop large corporations from buying up large amount of residential properties and driving up cost of living. They should be investing their money on other forms of assets that drives production rather than properties.

Negative gearing is not the boogie man that everyone makes it out to be, but rather its a combination of other policies WITH negative gearing that makes it bad.

Finally there should be government incentives for apprenticeships within Australia for building and construction industry so we can meet the demand. Once there are builders, then government can roll out public housing programs. As is currently, the shortage of builders and building adjacent industries means that when governments are doing infrastructure projects, they are crowding out the market of builders to do domestic housing, and therefore further bottlenecking supply.

  7. If Dutton gets in he will literally cut Medicare again the same as Scott Morrison. If Dutton gets in free TAFE will be cut and no one will be qualified to build houses. If Dutton gets in he will cut Public servants that are necessary to having processes approved (e.g. Department of Veterans affairs claims for Veterans)… Vote 1 Anthony Albanese 🎉❤!!!!

  8. Don’t get it why Australians
always pick out of these 2 parties , they only here for themselves they have never done anything positive to help people achieve more success to have more of their own hard working money to allow families spend more time together, they have only achieved to make Australia hard to survive and thrive to take more money from every corner they can possibly do so and make themselves rich while they at it , why can they live in luxury and the majority suffer to try and make it day by day it’s not fair and Aussies need to wake up ! and vote for a total different party change the narrative change the outcomes and take control back let’s put a leader that’s in it for the people that works for the people someone who makes Australians great again and happy , let’s put a stop to this money hungry vampire sucking government , let’s bring back the good times where everything was affordable and our 1 job can support our small families

  9. How about they focus fixing on today instead of the future. Lots of people will be dead B4 change happens In the future. And they voted for nothing not having lived the changes we need yesterday.

  10. Hi Aussie friends and families,
It’s time to wake up and hold Labor accountable for wasteful spending that’s driving up grocery prices and keeping interest rates high. Middle-class Australians are feeling the squeeze.

History shows the Liberal Party stands for responsible economic management, stronger financial foundations, and practical housing support — helping to lower interest rates and build a better future for everyday Aussies.❤❤❤❤
