A shark has been spotted circling freakishly close to the bank of a popular swimming location on the Gold Coast following significant flooding from ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

The rare sight was captured on video this morning at Tallebudgera Creek, with the suspected bull shark shocking locals.

Authorities urge residents to stay away from creeks, rivers, and drains as flood water could be contaminated with chemicals, industrial waste, snakes, sharks, spiders, debris or sharp objects.
