  6. Sad thing is edogan is right. The EU cannot exist without turkey, NATO becomes almost irrelevant without turkey, US power projection in the middle east is massively diminished without turkey. Erdogan knows this, turkey knows this, its why they are the only nato country that is allowed to try to annex another nato countries territory without any real consequence. Its why they can massacre civilians in rojava without consequence. Its why they can arrest and torture foreign journalists with impunity. Turkeys position as the gateway to the black sea, the land that seperates europe from the middle east, the source of almost all rivers in any of its neighbours, turkey is far too strategically important for any other nation to risk souring relations with, and erdogan has and will continue to use that fact to commit as many atrocities as he can in order to maintain power and turkish cultural hegemony in anatolia.

The mayor of Istanbul Imamoglu who is arrested has been funding a terrorist organisation, stealing billions of money that should’ve been invested in to the states infrastructure, but sent that money to his fathers account so that he can flee with if ever he lost another election.
