Do you know what’s worth fighting for
When it’s not worth dying for?
Does it take your breath away
And you feel yourself suffocating?
Does the pain weigh out the pride?
And you look for a place to hide?
Did someone break your heart inside?
You’re in ruins

One, twenty-one guns
Lay down your arms, give up the fight
One, twenty-one guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
You and I

When you’re at the end of the road
And you lost all sense of control
And your thoughts have taken their toll
When your mind breaks the spirit of your soul
Your faith walks on broken glass
And the hangover doesn’t pass
Nothing’s ever built to last
You’re in ruins

One, twenty-one guns
Lay down your arms, give up the fight
One, twenty-one guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
You and I

Did you try to live on your own
When you burned down the house and home?
Did you stand too close to the fire
Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone?

When it’s time to live and let die
And you can’t get another try
Something inside this heart has died
You’re in ruins

One, twenty-one guns
Lay down your arms, give up the fight
One, twenty-one guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
One, twenty-one guns
Lay down your arms, give up the fight
One, twenty-one guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
You and I

  34. This age is over. The Iraqi occupation is done, leaving Iraq as a state on eggshells. America has left Afghanistan with its tail between its legs, unconditionally surrendering to the Taliban. It's strange actually, to see with my own eyes this chapter of history draw to a close, and a new one open its doors before us, one where we just don't have enough money to hide our problems, one where we can't keep keep deluding ourselves with temporary fixes, foreign excursions, or virtue signaling. The 2020s are going to be a hard decade, one filled with sacrifice, civil unrest, and world war. I hope to god I'm wrong, I hope that mankind is better than history tells us we are, but with inflation, the war in Ukraine, and the George Floyd riots, I know that we are as much a species of animals as we are of men. It's clear to me that the underlying factors that have been slowly building over decades are finally beginning to surface. The last time that this many problems surfaced at the same time, France witnessed a bloody revolution, and then plunged all of Europe into war. But know this: when the war was over, when all the problems were dead, all the issues solved, Europe found itself at peace for nearly a Century. No matter how dark things around us may seem, no matter if things seem to be getting worse, know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. One day, this nightmare will end, and the prosperity we knew in our childhoods will return.
