Tropical Cyclone Alfred remains a category 2 system as the storm barrels towards the south-eastern coast of Queensland despite a slight shift in its direction. The Bureau of Meteorology’s Miriam Bradbury says winds from the cyclone are expected to ease but the risk of heavy rain and flooding will be an ongoing concern, as severe weather warnings are in place for much of south eastern Queensland and northern NSW.
