This month’s immigration updates cover key changes, visa grants, policy shifts ahead of the federal election, and processing times.
Key Updates:
• Federal Election & Immigration Policies: Labor aims to maintain a 185,000 migration cap and continue migration reforms, while the Liberals propose reducing migration to 140,000 and reinstating the Significant Investor Visa (SIV). The Greens prioritize humanitarian visas, while independents hold varied views.
• Visa Grants: Partner Visa 100, Global Talent, employer-sponsored visas (482, 186, 494), 190 visas for marketing specialists and software testers, student visas, and visitor visas.
• GSM Visas Slowing, Employer-Sponsored Increasing: No 189 visa invitations this month, NT closed for the 190 and 491 visas, NSW Pathway 1 for 491 closed, but employer-sponsored visas (482, 186, 494) are rising.

• Income Threshold Increases from 1 July 2025:
482 Core Skills Stream: $73,150 → $76,515
Specialist Skills Income Threshold: $135,000 → $141,210

• Processing Times for 482 Visa:
50% processed in 30 days, 90% in 47 days
Other Updates:
• Pacific Engagement Visa: Delays with fewer than 5% of 3,000 available visas granted.
• South Australia 190 & 491 Visas: Highly competitive, 50,000+ registrations for only 3,800 places, prioritizing high-demand occupations.
