  1. I love how these criminals think they can get away with this kind of thing(how many times have they) yet they keep trying and only what happens is law abiding people's get more rules and laws put against us

  2. This is the start of the return of the bad old days of the 90’s and early 2000’s. The word on the street is the Fisheries Officers have already been sacked so it’s a free for all. Marine Parks which have been locked up for 25 years are a pot of gold to poachers. If the sackings go ahead no one will know about these activities other than the locals. They can call the reporting hotline but there will not be a response. If the crooks have no “risk perception” of being caught then this will escalate into a huge black market controlled by organised crime just like tobacco. The Victorian Fisheries Authority is more interested in holding events, giving away fishing rods and senseless liberation of fish into ecosystems without any science. The VFA are a dog and pony show NOT an authority sustainably managing fish resources. There are other options to find the budget cuts but it seems this is the ONLY option provided to the Minister. The three pillars to a sustainable fishery are Science, Policy and Enforcement. Good fisheries management is about limiting effort through bag limits, size limits, closed seasons, quotas and gear limits. If you don’t have enforcement then it’s open slather.
